Some on the left are so jaded, they want to twist the US defeat in Afghanistan as a win, since the Military Industrial Complex cashed in. Truth is, even this is an example of Imperial decay, where the elite abandon their ultimate priority to protect the structures which guarantee their supremacy, and cared only for themselves and their momentery wealth.
Basically, the elite of the US, exemplified by the Military Industrial Complex, are abandoning the sinking Empire for the safety of exuberant wealth which will evaporate when the US Dollar loses its value.
